Indian law practitioner up for US Atty post

An Indian law pracitioner in Minneaopolis is under consideration for the US Attorney's post in Minnesota.

Tom Heffelfinger is one of three whom Senator Jim Ramstad (R-Minn.) has submitted to the White House for the job. Heffelfinger says he is the only one who has been interviewed.

Heffelfinger, a Republican, is with the law firm of Best & Flanagan and specializes in Indian law. He was the US Attorney for the 18 months prior to the Clinton administration.

US Attorneys must be confirmed by the Senate.
