The lawsuit filed against New Mexico's 12 gaming tribes may affect non-Indian gaming, although the answer varies upon whom you ask.

Victor Marshall, a lawyer, gambling opponent, and former state senator, says a ruling in favor of the state would end off-reservation gambling.

Chuck Brooke, a spokesman for Anchor Gaming Inc, says a ruling in favor of the state would only invalidate on-reservation gambling not off-reservation, due to a clause in the state's Gaming Control Act.

State Attorney General Patricia Madrid filed suit against the tribes on Tuesday, asking them to pay a 16 percent revenue sharing agreement or close their doors.
