Authorities in New Mexico have dropped heroin possession charges against country music singer Carlene Carter after she was found with nearly 3 grams of black tar heroin in Albuquerque Tuesday night.

The charges were dropped without prejudice so they could be filed again. Also involved was Howard Epstein, the bass player for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers with whom Carter was traveling at high speeds in an stolen vehicle.

Carter is the daughter of June Carter, the stepdaughter of Johnny Cash and the stepsister of Rosanne Cash.
