JUNE 5, 2001

A second meeting between the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut and three of its biggest legal and political foes has been set for June 18.

Both sides will use the phrase "land in trust" instead of annexation to describe the tribe's efforts to have the federal government take land into trust. An opening prayer or other ceremony will not take place.

The towns of Ledyard, North Stonington and Preston have submitted questions for the tribe to answer. Tribal officials will respond to them at the meeting.
