FRIDAY, JULY 13, 2001

At a meeting held to discuss Indian issues, residents of the Connecticut town of Preston last night said they want leaders to continue fighting three Pequot tribes.

Along with the neighboring towns of Ledyard and North Stonington, residents said they want to fight the federal recognitions of the Eastern Pequot Tribe and the Paucatuck Eastern Pequot Tribe.

They also oppose attempts by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation to seek trust lands.
