THURSDAY, JULY 19, 2001 A federal grand jury in Nebraska on Wednesday indicted Rhonda Harlan, director of the Omaha Tribe's Department of Social Services, on charges of embezzlement. Harlan is alleged to have issued checks for tribal members but cashed them on her own. The amount in question is about $7,000. The FBI has been investigating the various tribal agencies and officials for several months. The FBI has declined to comment on the nature of the probes. Get the Story:
