The Minnesota Supreme Court has ruled the state has jurisdiction over an Indian who allegedly committed a traffic violation on another tribe's land.

The court said that Potawatomi man can be prosecuted for driving without a license and speeding on the White Earth Ojibwe Reservation since he is not a member of the tribe.

Last year, the court ruled the state has no jurisdiction when the traffic violation is allegedly committed by a member of the tribe on his or her own reservation.
