MONDAY, AUGUST 27, 2001 An additional chapter of a federal inquiry into the investigation of former Los Alamos scientist Wen Ho Lee faults the FBI for assigning low level agents to the case, making numerous mistakes and ignoring orders to consider other suspects. Randy I. Bellows, an assistant U.S. attorney, wrote the report, which was presented to former Attorney General Janet Reno more than a year ago. Only selected parts of it have been made public due to national security concerns. Initially charged with 59 felony counts, Lee's case was reduced to just one, to which he pleaded guilty. Lee and his supporters maintain he was targeted solely because of his Asian ancestry. Get the Story:
