SEPTEMBER 11, 2000

The New York counties of Oneida and Madison have to pay nearly half a million dollars in expenses for attempting to settle its land claims dispute with the Oneida Nation.

A total of $440,575 was spent on lawyers, travel, food, computers, supplies, and other items.

Lawyers appear to be making the most out of the land claims settlement talks which have not resulted in much progress over the past year or so.
