THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2001

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut has suggested three possible dates to meet with three towns who are opposing the tribe's attempts to seek trust land.

The tribe and the towns of Ledyard, North Stonington and Preston have been in talks about trust land. The meetings were arranged by freshman Congressman Rob Simmons (R-Conn.).

The tribe has proposed to limit its land-into-trust applications to 880 acres over the next 35 years. The towns say they have additional concerns about the proposal.
