N.M. woman killed in BIA accident

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2001 Police in Santa Fe, New Mexico, are investigating Wednesday's death of a 21-year-old woman who died after being dragged by a Bureau of Indian Affairs police vehicle. BIA criminal investigator Marcelino Toersbijns was leaving the Santa Fe Indian School at around 7:30 AM. Somehow, Alicia Waseta, got trapped under the vehicle and was dragged 500 feet. Toersbijns didn't notice she was under the car until he was flagged down by another driver. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the local investigation. Get the Story:
