Mother of slain son decries shooting

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2001 The mother of a teenager shot and killed by a Bureau of Indian Affairs police officer says her son was unarmed. Brenda Scissons called the BIA police to her residence on the Duck Valley Reservation because she was worried about her son's drinking habit. Police responded to the domestic disturbance call, and one office shot Jake Thomas, 19. The officer is on paid leave pending an investigation by the BIA and the FBI. Get the Story:
