Violent crime in U.S. declining

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2001 The FBI reported on Monday the results of its preliminary nationwide crime statistics, showing a 1.3 percent decline in violent crime during the first six months of the year. The decline follows a nationwide trend. However, Indian Country crime remains stagnant and at a higher rate than the rest of the nation. Yesterday's report does not disclose crime on reservations.
