In what just might be famous last words, Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and the leaders of three towns are claiming victory in a long-running dispute over trust lands.

The state and the towns of Ledyard, North Stonington and Preston said on Tuesday they were pleased that the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation last week withdrew its application to have 165 acres of land taken into trust. The decision appears to end a lawsuit the state filed against the Department of Interior to stop the land title change.

But the tribe in a statement said it will still seek trust lands. The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the tribe's right to do so.
