Funding sought for federal recognition

The leaders of more than 30 towns in Connecticut have asked Gov. John Rowland (R) for funds to help research and review federal recognition petitions.

The towns also want the state to conduct an environmental and socio-economic study of casinos. There are two tribally-owned casinos in the state.
