A group of private landowners in New York has asked a federal judge to dismiss land claims made by the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin.

Members of the American Land Rights Coalition haven't yet been sued but they want the lawsuits thrown out anyway. The tribe filed 40 claims after it was excluded from a proposed settlement between Gov. George Pataki (R) and the Oneida of New York.
