THURSDAY, MARCH 28, 2002

The Little Shell Chippewa Tribe of Montana is working to close comments on its federal recognition petition by July.

Former Assistant Secretary Kevin Gover extended preliminary recognition to the tribe in May 2000. Since then, the tribe has sought extensions of the public comment period in order to address holes identified by BIA staff.
