Woman sentenced for reservation death

A federal judge in Montana has sentenced a woman to 14 months in prison for a drunk driving accident on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation.

Priscilla Littlebear pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and assault resulting in serious bodily injury. The April 2001 accident resulted in the death of a 9-month-old baby and the injury of a passenger.

In other reservation crime news, Francis George Old Dwarf of New Mexico was sentenced to three years and one month in prison for an assault of a man on the reservation. Loy Matthew Bryant was shot and suffered various injuries in the August 2000 attack.

Additionally, a woman pleaded guilty to obtaining drugs from an Indian Health Service hospital on the Crow Reservation. Edwina Alden will be sentenced June 26.

Separately, a case is proceeding against a Crow Reservation man. Charles Lance, 24, is accused of assault on a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer officer and possession of an illegal firearm.
