Flambeau casino a no go in county

OCTOBER 11, 2000 Brown County officials have shelved plans to host an off-reservation casino proposed by the Lac du Flambeau Chippewa, leading the town of Lawrence to lament over the demise. The town board had approved a $49 million casino complex. It would have given the town and county $96.5 million over 20 years. The tribe has proposals pending in other communities. Get the Story:
