DECEMBER 13, 2000

The Boston Globe today concludes its four-part series on Indian gaming and related issues.

In one article, the paper looks at criminal activity at casinos, which is most often associated with non-Indians. The paper points to lack of full funding for the National Indian Gaming Commission, whose budget comes entirely from gaming tribes, as a potential cause for the activity.

The second article looks at Donald Trump's frequently hypocritical statements and actions involving Indian gaming. After criticizing tribes for years, he has recently joined forces with tribes in Connecticut and New York. At the same time, he has engaged in anti-tribal activity in New York.
