FEBRUARY 5, 2001 The New York State Supreme Court last month dismissed a lawsuit aimed at shutting down the Oneida Nation's successful casino. Justice John L. Murad dismissed the lawsuit filed by Upstate Citizens for Equality because the anti-land claims group didn't show enough evidence they they have been injured by the casino. UCE says the compact signed between the state and the tribe is illegal and is patterned after a successful lawsuit in New Mexico. UCE says it will amend their complaint and file it again.
