MARCH 15, 2001 Towns in northeastern Connecticut are hoping to benefit from the actions of State Rep. Jefferson B. Davis, who on Wednesday said they should be allowed to get their fair share of slot machine revenues generated by the state's two tribal casinos. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribe are both expanding their casinos. The expansion is expected to bring in $30 million a year. Of that amount, towns in southeastern Connecticut -- where the casinos are located -- will be able to access $10 million. But towns just to the north also want access to the additional money because they say casino workers will be moving into their towns and affecting their services. The State Legislature is currently considering how to distribute the extra money. Davis would submit a new bill addressing his proposal. Get the Story:
