Okla. Tribe considers Kansas casino

MARCH 7, 2001 Officials from a number of towns in northeast Kansas are reaching out to the Delaware Tribe of Oklahoma's proposal to build a $60 million casino near Kansas City. Four tribes already operate casinos in the same region. When the Wyandotte Nation of Oklahoma attempted to open one in downdown Kansas City, they filed suit against it and were joined by the state. They have been successful in stalling the proposal. The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals last week ruled the Department of Interior couldn't take the land into trust for gaming purposes without futher considerations. Get the Story:
