Residents and officials in two Connecticut towns have shown opposition to a possible casino. Two area tribes, the Paucatucks and the Eastern Pequots have received preliminary federal recognition from the BIA. City officials in Stonington and North Stonington cite traffic and crime as their major concerns.

According to the article, the tribes would "identify aboriginal land and make a claim for it" if they received recogniztion. Also, the article claims the two tribes would have to negotiate gaming compacts not just with the state of Connecticut but with the the Mashantucket Pequots and the Mohegans.
