APRIL 20, 2001 The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is the second biggest taxpayer in the town of Preston. For the year 2000, the tribe paid $1.4 million on properties it owns in the towns. The biggest taxpayer was Strawberry Park Resort Campground Inc, with a $1.7 million assessment. The town of Preston is suing the Department of Interior to prevent the tribe from increasing the size of its reservation by 165 acres. Get the Story:
