Texas gaming bill passes House

APRIL 26, 2001 The Texas House on Wednesday passed a bill to legalize gaming on the state's three Indian reservations. The bill would affect three tribes: the Ysleta del Sur Tigua Tribe, the Kickapoo Tribe, and the Alabama-Coushatta. The Tigua Tribe's Speaking Rock Casino near El Paso has been targeted for shutdown by the state. A Senate committee has approved its version of the bill, but will see opposition from Lt. Gov.
