The US General Services Administration has agreed to pay the Blackfeet Nation in Montana $260,000 in tribal taxes and fees. The tribe had shut down a $5.3 million project at the US and Canadian border in February of this year in order to force payment of the monies.

The government had earlier refused to pay the fees, claiming exemption from tribal law, but through negotiations arranged by Senator Max Baucus (D Mont), the government agreed to pay the money. The money will go into the tribe's general operating budget.
