Tribe files plan for golf course

MAY 7, 2001 The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation on Friday filed an application to build a golf course and club on a 912-acre plot in North Stonington, Connecticut. The tribe wants to build an 18-hole course, a driving range, a 35,000-square-foot clubhouse, and eight guest villas on the site. The property is located on non-tribal land so the city's zoning commission will hold a hearing on it next month. The site is located near a 1,200-acre property the tribe owns called the Lake of Isles. The tribe has previously expressed interest in seeking to have the property placed in trust. Get the Story:
