JUNE 11, 2001 The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut on Friday celebrated the placement of the final beam on top of the new 34-story hotel being constructed as part of a $1.1 billion expansion. Flags of the United States, the tribe, and the Mohawk tribe were unfurled on top. A number of Mohawk construction workers are helping build the casino's new structures. The expansion isn't expected to open until early October. It will include a 120,000-square-foot casino and a 10,000-seat indoor arena. Get the Story:
