An editor for the Boston Globe on Friday said the Massachusetts paper stands by its story on the Mohegan Tribe despite Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) refuting comments attributed to him.

The Globe reported last week that McCain called for a hearing on the tribe's casino deal. In various reports, McCain's staff has denied he ever made such comments.

The Boston Globe reporter was observed talking to McCain during a recess of the confirmation hearing of Bureau of Indian Affairs nominee Neal McCaleb last Wednesday.
