JUNE 21, 2000

The lawsuit filed against New Mexico's 12 gaming tribes hasn't deterred Sandia Pueblo from forging ahead with their new casino, scheduled to open in May 2001.

The new casino will employ about 1,500 people. 60 percent of the tribes' work force are not from the tribe.

On June 14, State Attorney General Patricia Madrid filed suit against the tribes, seeking to shut them down or pay 16 percent of their revenues to the state.
