The California Senate on Thursday rejected a bill to provide the state's gambling commission with $1.35 million.

Leading the charge against the bill was Sen. Jim Battin, R-La Quinta, who was concerned that Governor Gray Davis has placed a moratorium on new gaming compacts with tribes without consulting tribal leaders.
