Tribe says little progress since Clinton

TUESDAY, JULY 10, 2001 Two years after President Clinton visited the South Dakota reservation to tout a plan to stimulate economic development, Oglala Lakota President John Yellow Bird Steele says there has been little to show for the promise. Steele says part of the problem is that the tribe is undergoing internal conflict and financial scrutiny. He also says infrastructure must be developed on the reservation in order to economic development to succeed. Get the Story:
