WEDNESDAY, JULY 11, 2001 In an editorial today, the New London Day says a tribal casino in the city of New London is not in the best interests of the community. The paper says allowing a new casino, which has been proposed by the Eastern Pequot Tribe, is not a "healthy, productive pursuit." The paper also says there should not even be tribal casinos in the state. "Casino gambling was not desired by state residents and should not have happened in Connecticut," writes the paper.
