Ex-casino employee charged with theft

WEDNESDAY, JULY 18, 2001 The state of New Mexico has prosecuted an ex-employee of Santa Ana Pueblo's casino under an agreement giving the state concurrent jurisdiction over Indian gaming crimes. Craig S. Kasero was indicted on 77 counts of embezzlement, 77 counts of forgery and 11 counts of attempted embezzlement for allegedly stealing $100,000 from the Pueblo's casino. The tribe and the state signed the agreement in March 2000, which are authorized under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA). It is similar to one in place at Acoma Pueblo Get the Story:
