JULY 26, 2000

A man who allegedly stole more than $600,000 from a Mohegan Sun casino count room is being described as a "magician" due to his quick-moving hands which forced authorized to closely study surveillance tapes in order to confirm the money had actually been taken.

The man had been employed by the tribe since October 1996. He was arrested last month in connection with the thefts.

His son has also been arrested on a different charge. But police officers soon discovered $410,000 in the son's home, leading them to believe the son was stealing from the father.
