The Mohegan Tribe's new 34-story hotel stands 480 feet, making it the second tallest building in Connecticut.

The glass tower is part of the tribe's $1 billion expansion of its successful Mohegan Sun casino. Scheduled to open in April 2002, it has 1,200 rooms, a convention center and other facilities.

Residents contacted by The New London Day had varying opinions about the structure but said it felt out of place among their community.
