The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut opened a $1.1 billion expansion to the Mohegan Sun casino on Tuesday.

The expansion makes the casino the second largest in the world. Foxwoods, owned by the neighboring Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, is the largest.

Mohegan Sun is called the highest grossing casino. It includes more slot machines, a mall and a 10,000-seat arena. Convention space and a 34-story hotel will open next spring.

Concerts at the arena will begin November 9. Country crooner Tim McGraw, Latin lady Gloria Estefan and mouthy mumbler Bob Dylan are among the first acts that will play the arena. No word if metal maniacs Poison will be invited back to the region.

The arena will also be hosting professional sports events. Michael Jordan, who on Tuesday re-entered the NBA for the Washington Wizards, will be playing October 26 when his team goes up against the Boston Celtics for an exhibition game.
