Editorial: Study Indian economic power

MONDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2001 In an editorial, The Sioux Falls Argus Leader says national study to determine tribal contributions to the national economy is needed. "It's time we did this," writes the paper, calling on the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) or another organization to undertake the study. The paper says a study would go a long way in showing the impact of a tribal economy, including gaming. The paper also says a study will help tribes facing economic development challenges. John McCoy, director of governmental affairs for the Tulalip Tribes of Washington, has called on NCAI to commission a study. Get the Story:
