THURSDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2001

Santa Ana Pueblo in New Mexico will be opening a 100,000 square-foot expansion to its casino on Christmas Day, part of a $60 million effort that includes more gaming, restaurants and entertainment options.

When all is said and done, the casino will grow by 267,000 feet. Included for the Christmas opening are a 2,500-seat concert hall, a 42,000-square-foot bowling center and a 10,500-square-foot banquet and conference area.

By fall 2002, the tribe will open a seven-story, 284-room hotel.

The tribe's compact was recently approved and made effective by the Department of Interior. It caps the revenue sharing rate at 8 percent.
