Tribes benefiting from gaming money

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2001 The California Gambling Control Commission on Wednesday approved $200,000 payments to non-gaming tribes in the state or those with fewer than 350 slot machines. As part of compacts signed with the state, tribes agreed to give money to their neighbors. The commission has approved $15.6 million in payments but is holding $7 million back because it is trying to resolve the formula gaming tribes use to contribute to the fund. Get the Story:
