Revenues at the casino owned by the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut were up the last quarter of 2001 but due to a major expansion project and September 11-related circumstances, overall earnings dipped slightly.

According to figures released by the tribe, revenue was $258.6 million, a 28 percent increase over the same period the year prior. The tribe in September unveiled the start of its $1.1 billion expansion, which includes more slot machines.

But spending associated with the project as well as overstaffing and post-September 11 concerns contributed to a small decrease of earnings to $50.3 million.
