FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2002

The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals today denied the Tigua Tribe of Texas the ability to keep its casino open while it pursues appeals.

The action means an order requiring the casino to close by February 11 will become effective. Federal prosecutors have not said how they will go about shutting down the facility.

The tribe is planning to ask the Supreme Court for an emergency stay.
