The Gila River Tribe and the city of Mesa are competing for the chance to host a new $350 million Arizona Cardinals football stadium.

But the way Mesa has been playing it, the tribe appears set to get the nod this Thursday when the state Tourism and Sports Authority settles on a choice.

The football team is telling the city to move its proposal and has made other demands. Mayor Keno Hawker says he isn't ready to go to the bat for the stadium.
