A Rhode Island lawmaker is planning to file a bill to put the Narragansett Tribe's casino proposal before state voters.

Sen. Stephen D. Alves, a Democrat from West Warwick, says he wants the issue on the November ballot. He says attempts to study the casino proposal are unfair to the tribe.

The tribe has chosen West Warwick as its development site. But in recent years, the proposal has been hung up in the Legislature.

Tribal officials fear a study, sought by House Finance Chairman Gordon D. Fox, will only derail their plans.
