A federal judge in Michigan has ruled the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Ojibwe Indians is operating its casino legally.

U.S. District Judge Douglas W. Hillman ruled on Monday that the casino is operating on restored reservation lands. He rejected claims by the state of Michigan.

The tribe was recognized by Congress in 1980.
