Descendants of Choctaws who refused to be removed to Oklahoma, the Mississippi Band of Choctaws have grown to be one of the most financially successful tribes in the nation.

The tribe was plagued with unemployment and poverty up until it started to lure companies to bring their operations to the reservation. Currently, American Greeting Cards, Pepsi and McDonald's make their home on Choctaw lands.

That doesn't include the tribe's own business enterprises, which include a casino. Some of the money goes to the 8,900 tribal members while other funds have pushed the tribe to the top of the political contributors lists.
