President Bush on Tuesday nominated former New Mexico Attorney General Hal Stratton to head the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Stratton replaces Bush's original pick of Mary Sheila Gall, whose nomination was derailed by Senate Democrats. Gall will remain on the CPSC as a commissioner.

Ann Brown, the current chairman and a Clinton appointee, is leaving the post this week.
