Voter turnout for Clinton a record high

DECEMBER 12, 2000 When First Lady Hillary Clinton defeated Rep. Rick Lazio (R-NY) in November, she recorded the third-largest vote total ever for a US Senate election in the state of New York. Clinton had 3,747,310 votes, more than 830,000 than Lazio. Only fellow Democrats Patrick Moynihan in 1988 and the late late Robert F. Kennedy in 1964 had a larger turnout. Get the Story:
