DECEMBER 8, 2000 Decisions which could finally determine, and alter, the fate of the Presidential race are expeted today. The Florida Supreme Court will meet again today to consider an appeal made by Vice President Al Gore. Gore wants the court to allow some 14,000 disputed ballots to be recounted. The court concluded a hearing on Thursday, griling lawyers for both Gore and Texas Governor George W. Bush. Their main concern, however, appeared to be time. The state must choose its electors by December 12 in preparation for the Electoral College meeting on December 18. Otherwise, the state's 25 votes could be ignored. A decision on two lawsuits might also come today. Two judges are considering whether or not to throw out ballots members of the Democrat Party say were invalidated by Republicans. As many as 25,000 ballots from Seminole and Martin Counties could be thrown out, potentially tipping the state to Gore. Finally, state lawmakers are holding a special session to choose their electors. If the Republican-controlled legislature chooses Bush electors and any of the cases end up favoring Gore, Congress would have to resolve the dispute. Related Stories:
